EEE organizes Free training programme on ‘House Wiring’ under Swabalamban-2019


As a part of “Swabalamban”- the social commitment programme of Assam Don Bosco University, a Free training programme on ‘House Wiring’ under Swabalamban-2019 was organised by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) in collaboration with Bosco 87 Development Society and Assam Railway Employees Cooperative Association Ltd. 

A total of 14 participants were trained through the free skill development program scheduled during 2-7 December, 2019 at the School of Technology, Assam Don Bosco University, Azara Campus. The trade ‘Electrical house wiring’ basically deals with the electrical wiring system that distributes energy to be used in equipment and appliances around the house. It also involves the proper installation and operation of the electrical outlets, switches, breakers, meter base and different electrical circuits. In the programme, the trainees got a hands-on experience on how to install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures. 

The topics covered in the skill development programme were: 
  • Introduction to Electrical Wiring 
  • Electrical House Wiring fundamentals 
  • Selection of wire gauge, MCB ratings etc. 
  • Load Calculations 
  • Inverter Connections 
  • Connections of Energy Meter, Electrical appliances and Switches 
  • Electrical Safety 
  • Testing of Electrical House Wiring Systems 
  • Electrical House Wiring Hands-on

This programme is catered to the need of both theoretical and practical training for the educated unemployed youth. The programme offers a basic framework of electrical theory and provides the hands-on skills needed to install, service and maintain electrical equipment in residential settings.
