EEE dept. organizes Free Training on "Electrical House Wiring" under SWABALAMBAN-2018


A 5-days free skill development training programme in “Electrical House Wiring” under SWABALAMBAN-2018, organized by School of Technology (Don Bosco College of Engineering and Technology), Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) came to an end on 15 December 2018. Faculty and Staff members of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering conducted the training in which 14 participants successfully completed the course and were awarded with certificates. 

Swabalamban is a free Skill Development Training Programme organized annually by ADBU and is a part of the regular social commitment programmes of the University for the unemployed youth of the vicinity of its campuses with an aim of empowering them to become self-dependent. This year, starting on 10 Dec 2018,  the University offered free training in 5 different areas like Electrical House Wiring, Solar Powered LED lamps, Plumbing, DTP & PC Maintenance, and Welding, Fitting & Blacksmithy; conducted jointly by the departments of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering in which a total of 47 participants underwent the training. 

For the course in “Electrical House Wiring”, Mr. Nomal Ch. Nath, Mr. Bikramjit Goswami, Mr. Gitu Das, Mr. Papul Changmai, Mr. Sushil Kr. Minj and Mr. Nitumoni Borah from EEE department conducted the training. The programme ended with a formal valedictory session on 15 December 2018 in which the Head of EEE department, Prof. Shakuntala Laskar urged the participants to apply and practice correctly whatever they could learn during this short training. In addition, Mr. Nomal Ch. Nath in his remark, emphasized on the practice of Electrical Safety in every Electrical work. Satisfactory feedbacks from the participants ended the session with a happy note where they shared their extensive learning experiences during the short span of 5 days of training. ADBU team hopes that such program will be indeed a real aid to the youth empowerment and believes that it is an initiative to prepare skilled human resources towards Government's Make-in-India dream.

Swabalamban-2018 has started in School of Technology (Don Bosco College of Engineering and Technology), Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) at its Azara Campus on 10 December 2018. EEE Faculty delivers special course to Indian Railways

Faculties from the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of School of Technology, Assam Don Bosco University - Mr. Jyoti Kumar Barman and Mr. Gitu Das, Assistant Professor, are delivering a One week "Special Course on Power Electronics for Railway Supervisors", starting from August 6 to August 10, 2018 at Assam Engineering College, Guwahati. The week-long programme is being conducted by the Electrical Engineering department of AEC. Few snaps of the programme can be found below.






Technical Symposium on Electrical Engineering organised by EEE Department

As a part of its continuous effort to bridge the industry-academia gap, a Technical Symposium on Electrical Engineering was organized by the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, School of Technology, Assam Don Bosco University on 17th July 2018, which evoked an encouraging response from the participants.


Mr. Anshooman Barooah, MD, Gajanan Power Systems and Mr. Manas Jyoti Baishya, Senior Engineer, Power Grid Corporation of India were invited as Industry Professionals to deliver talks and a total of 60 students from B.Tech. 5th and 7th semesters attended the symposium. Mr. Anshooman Barooah, delivered his talk on carrier opportunities for EEE students, emphasizing on the necessary skills needed while preparing for an interview. He also mentioned major areas which students can consider like core, software and ITs, Entrepreneur or start-ups for a fruitful career prospect. Mr. Manas Jyoti Baishya presented an overview of the World’s first ±800 kV High Voltage Direct Current Transmission Substation in Biswanath Chariali, Assam. He mentioned about HVDC system and its advantages. Further, he highlighted the ±800KV HVDC Substation and its components, world’s first multi-terminal project, longest DC Transmission line and highest DC Transmission voltage etc. The session ended with an interaction of the resource persons with the participants. This type of lecture and interaction is expected to make the engineering students industry-ready when they pass out from the college.

EEE dept. is going to organize Technical Symposium

Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, School of Technology, ADBU is going to organize a "Technical Symposium on Electrical Engineering...recent advancements and career perspective" on 17 July, 2018 for its B.Tech. and M.Tech. students. Professionals and industry experts will be delivering lectures in the programme which is aimed at exposing the students to the professionals in an attempt to bridge the industry-academia gap.
