Waves of Inspiration: EEE dept. Hosts Talk on Prospects in the "Indian Navy Career"



The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Assam Don Bosco University, School of Technology, recently organized an enlightening talk on the "Career in Indian Navy." The session, held on April 21, 2023, at the Azara Campus of Assam Don Bosco University, featured Commander Anuj Kumar Shrutikar from the Indian Navy as the esteemed guest speaker. The event witnessed the active participation of 65 students from various departments within the School of Technology.

Commander Anuj Kumar Shrutikar commenced his talk by emphasizing the pivotal role played by the Indian Navy as a well-balanced and cohesive three-dimensional force, entrusted with the critical responsibility of safeguarding our national interests above, on, and under the surface of the oceans. With his profound knowledge and experiences, Commander Shrutikar shed light on the various career opportunities available for aspiring individuals within the Indian Navy.

Specifically addressing the role of engineers within the Indian Navy, Commander Shrutikar highlighted the crucial responsibilities of Engineer Officers in maintaining advanced technology, machinery, and propulsion systems. He elucidated that as a Technical Officer, one could specialize in Engineering, Electrical, Aeronautical, or Naval Architecture. Furthermore, he mentioned that Technical branch officers also have the option to volunteer for the esteemed Submarine and Aviation Technical Arms. To join the Indian Navy, Commander Shrutikar informed the audience about the Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET), which is conducted online twice a year for direct entry of graduates into both permanent and short service commissions across various branches. He also shared that the NCC entry is exclusively available for B-Tech students holding an NCC-C certificate. Additionally, the Navy conducts separate Direct Entry programs for eminent sportspersons, musicians, and law graduates.

In his inspiring concluding remarks, Commander Anuj Kumar Shrutikar emphasized the invaluable benefits of a career in the Navy, highlighting the early opportunities for displaying leadership skills, shouldering immense responsibility, and garnering dignity, respect, and status in society. He emphasized the attractive pay packages, perks, and the personal, financial, and emotional security that a career in the Navy provides.
