EEE dept. Organizes Enlightening Industrial Visit for EEE Students at ELEN Engineering, Kendukuchi, Guwahati

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at Assam Don Bosco University recently orchestrated a captivating industrial visit to ELEN Engineering in Kendukuchi, Guwahati. On June 10, 2022, a group of 10 students from the B.Tech 8th semester, accompanied by three esteemed faculty members, had the opportunity to explore the inner workings of ELEN Engineering and gain valuable insights into the field of electrical engineering.

The industrial visit commenced with the warm welcome and guidance of Mr. Mriganka Borah, a knowledgeable professional from ELEN Engineering. Mr. Borah led the students through a comprehensive demonstration of a transformer, unravelling its intricate construction and functionality. The students were exposed to the various components of a core-type transformer, including insulations, low-voltage and high-voltage windings, core, conductors, and transformer oil. With an exceptional eye for detail, Mr. Borah elucidated the concept of losses, routine testing, and the different types of cooling schemes employed in transformers.

The visit aimed to provide EEE students with a tangible glimpse into the realm of real-world electrical systems, bridging the gap between industry and academia. By engaging with professionals and witnessing the practical application of their theoretical knowledge, the students were able to enrich their understanding of electrical engineering principles in a practical context.

Dr. Shakuntala Laskar, Dr. Bikramjit Goswami, and Dr. Smriti Dey, esteemed faculty members from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, accompanied the students throughout the visit, offering their expertise and guidance. Their presence served to enhance the learning experience and ensure that the students could make the most of this invaluable opportunity.

Reflecting on the significance of the industrial visit, Dr. Shakuntala Laskar, Prof. at the department, shared, "We believe that firsthand exposure to industry settings is vital for our students' growth and development. Through this visit, we aimed to provide them with a deeper understanding of the practical aspects of electrical engineering, fostering a stronger connection between theory and application. We are grateful to ELEN Engineering for their warm hospitality and for sharing their expertise with our students."

The industrial visit to ELEN Engineering proved to be a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on the participating students. Assam Don Bosco University remains committed to offering its students comprehensive learning experiences and empowering them with practical knowledge that will shape their future careers in the field of electrical engineering.
