EEE dept. empowers participants with an engaging Hands-on Workshop on Computation with Python

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), School of Technology, at Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU), successfully organized a transformative online workshop on Computation with Python. The workshop, held from August 22 to August 27, 2022, aimed to equip participants with essential skills and applications of Python software.

With a remarkable response, a total of 104 participants from various parts of the country, as well as abroad, eagerly registered for the workshop, showcasing their enthusiasm for exploring the capabilities of Python. The participants represented diverse backgrounds, contributing to a rich and engaging learning environment.

Python, a widely favored high-level programming language across industries and academia, served as the central focus of the workshop. This introductory course aimed to provide participants with a comprehensive overview of Python's computational possibilities. The workshop facilitated hands-on learning, empowering participants to harness the language's potential.

Led by resource persons, Dr. Bikramjit Goswami and Dr. Jyoti Kumar Barman, Assistant Professors at Assam Don Bosco University, the workshop delivered engaging sessions that captivated the participants. The course content received high praise, striking the perfect balance between theoretical concepts and practical applications.

Swabalamban-2022: EEE dept. Empowers Educated Unemployed Youth through Skill Development Training in Electrical House Wiring

Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of Assam Don Bosco University School of Technology recently conducted a free skill development training program on Electrical House Wiring as part of the University’s "Swabalamban" initiative. The program, held from July 11th to 16th, 2022, aimed to equip the educated unemployed youth of the region with essential skills for independent employment.

The inauguration program took place on July 11th, 2022, at the conference hall of ADBU's Azara Campus. Distinguished guests in attendance included Fr. Joseph Nellanatt, Pro-VC of ADBU, Prof. Manoranjan Kalita, Director of the School of Technology at ADBU, and Mr. Subodh Das, Director of SOS Children's Village.

Under the guidance of experienced faculty members and lab staff, a total of 12 trainees, including 4 girls, successfully completed the rigorous training program on “Electrical House Wiring”. Throughout the six-day training, participants received comprehensive instruction in the fundamentals of Electrical connections and wiring, installation testing, electrical safety, earthing, insulation, wire and rating selections, meters and measuring instruments, and tools for electrical installations. The program emphasized hands-on practice, enabling trainees to gain practical experience in the field.

On July 16, 2022, the trainees underwent a comprehensive test, which all 12 participants successfully passed. At the closing ceremony, the trainees were awarded certificates of completion, signifying their achievement and readiness to take on house wiring tasks independently.

"Swabalamban" is an integral part of Assam Don Bosco University's commitment to social responsibility. Recognizing the challenges faced by unemployed youths in securing suitable livelihood options, the university aims to uplift and resuscitate these individuals through skill-enhancement programs. Since its launch in 2014, Swabalamban, in collaboration with the departments of Computer Science & Engineering, Computer Application, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, has provided training in various disciplines, including electrical house wiring, inverter-making, solar-powered rechargeable LED lamps, DTP, masonry, CAD, welding, fitting and carpentry, plumbing, and more.

The success of the Electrical House Wiring training program further reinforces the university's dedication to empowering individuals and addressing the unemployment crisis among Assam's youth. By equipping them with essential skills, Assam Don Bosco University remains steadfast in its pursuit of social responsibility; and strives to create opportunities for self-employment and contribute to the region’s rapidly expanding service sectors.
