The session featured Dr. Papul Changmai, Assistant Professor in the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at Assam Don Bosco University-Azara, a National Awardee academician and expert in Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems, who served as the Resource Person for the FDP. He delivered an insightful lecture titled “Potential of Rooftop Solar PV Plants in Assam”. His participation significantly enriched the academic rigor and relevance of the programme.
During the session, Dr. Changmai presented a comprehensive analysis of the solar energy landscape in India, with particular emphasis on Assam. He elaborated on the Solar Missions of both the Government of India and the Government of Assam, outlining key policy frameworks, strategic goals, and long-term developmental perspectives. His discussion included current data and emerging trends in solar PV deployment at national and regional levels.
A key highlight of the FDP session was his detailed explanation of government subsidies, incentives, and financial support mechanisms aimed at promoting rooftop solar installations. He demonstrated how these provisions can lower investment barriers and accelerate adoption among residential and institutional consumers. Additionally, he addressed the growing demand for skilled manpower in the renewable energy sector, underscoring the need for academic institutions to align curricula and training with industry requirements.
The programme witnessed active participation from faculty members, students, administrative staff, and invited attendees. The interactive segment facilitated meaningful discussions, where participants engaged with the resource person through questions and reflections. The session received highly positive feedback, particularly for its practical relevance and clarity of presentation.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks, acknowledging the valuable contribution of Dr. Changmai as Resource Person and the dedicated efforts of the organizing committee. The FDP session proved to be highly informative and impactful, contributing to academic capacity building and reinforcing the role of renewable energy in achieving a sustainable and self-reliant India in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
