EEE department hosts Industry Expert Lecture on "Electrical Safety"

On May 11, 2022, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) organized a captivating industry expert lecture on "Electrical Safety". The event featured esteemed speaker Er. Diganta Sharma, Senior Manager at Schneider Electric Infrastructure Ltd.

The lecture, attended by a total of 47 students from B.Tech. and M.Tech. programmes, along with the faculty and staff members of the department, aimed to shed light on the fundamentals of electrical safety in the realm of Electrical Power Systems. With a focus on high-voltage circuits, Er. Diganta Sharma emphasized the critical importance of adhering to safety guidelines in such environments.

During the session, Er. Diganta Sharma shared real-life examples of electrical accidents and emergencies, both in indoor and outdoor working environments, stressing the need for vigilance and precautionary measures. The lecture also addressed conditions that indicate electrical risks and potential causes of arc flash or blast. Engaging the audience further, the speaker showcased video footage of common mistakes leading to accidents in high-voltage switchgear, offering insights into preventive measures to mitigate such incidents. The informative session encouraged participants to be conscious of vulnerabilities and safety protocols when working with power systems.

The event culminated with an interactive Q&A session, where attendees sought advice on safety guidelines specific to various voltage levels and auxiliary systems.
