A 5-days free skill development training programme in “Electrical House Wiring” under SWABALAMBAN-2018, organized by School of Technology (Don Bosco College of Engineering and Technology), Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) came to an end on 15 December 2018. Faculty and Staff members of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering conducted the training in which 14 participants successfully completed the course and were awarded with certificates.
Swabalamban is a free Skill Development Training Programme organized annually by ADBU and is a part of the regular social commitment programmes of the University for the unemployed youth of the vicinity of its campuses with an aim of empowering them to become self-dependent. This year, starting on 10 Dec 2018, the University offered free training in 5 different areas like Electrical House Wiring, Solar Powered LED lamps, Plumbing, DTP & PC Maintenance, and Welding, Fitting & Blacksmithy; conducted jointly by the departments of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering in which a total of 47 participants underwent the training.
For the course in “Electrical House Wiring”, Mr. Nomal Ch. Nath, Mr. Bikramjit Goswami, Mr. Gitu Das, Mr. Papul Changmai, Mr. Sushil Kr. Minj and Mr. Nitumoni Borah from EEE department conducted the training. The programme ended with a formal valedictory session on 15 December 2018 in which the Head of EEE department, Prof. Shakuntala Laskar urged the participants to apply and practice correctly whatever they could learn during this short training. In addition, Mr. Nomal Ch. Nath in his remark, emphasized on the practice of Electrical Safety in every Electrical work. Satisfactory feedbacks from the participants ended the session with a happy note where they shared their extensive learning experiences during the short span of 5 days of training. ADBU team hopes that such program will be indeed a real aid to the youth empowerment and believes that it is an initiative to prepare skilled human resources towards Government's Make-in-India dream.
