The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, School of Technology, Assam Don Bosco University has recently organized a Hands-on Workshop on Solar Photo Voltaic System (HoWS-PV 2018) on 2-3 May 2018. A total of ten participants from different institutions across North-east India were certified in the workshop in which topics from basic theory to practical hands-on training were covered.
The main objective of the workshop was to give the participants an insight of solar energy generation, theory related to solar energy and analysis of internal circuitry of solar PV. Simulation of solar cell and their behavior on partial shading condition (PSC), calculation of irradiance, characteristics of solar cell at PSC both in module level and array level were demonstrated. Further, the participants simulated solar module and solar array and generation of characteristics graphs using software and hands-on experiments with commercially available solar panels, fabrication of low cost solar cell with the waste material were also done.
The resource person of the workshop was Mr. Papul Changmai, assisted by Ms. Smriti Dey, Mr. Jesif Ahmed, Mr. Gitu Das - all from the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, along with Mr. Kaustubh Bhattacharyya, Assistant Professor, ADBU. The workshop ended with a formal valedictory session on 3rd April 2018.
