On 5 March 2025, Assam Don Bosco University's (ADBU) School of Technology and IIM Calcutta Innovation Park – Technology and Innovation Council (IIMCIP-TIC) signed a landmark MoU to establish the ADBU Build Club, appointing Dr. Gitu Das, Assistant Professor at Dept. of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) as the Faculty Single Point of Contact alongside a multidisciplinary six-student core team. To launch the club, a free two-day Kickstart Workshop was held on 24–25 March in the EEE Department, attracting 91 students eager to gain hands-on experience with sensors, actuators, development boards, and hardware interfacing.
Guided by experts from IIT Madras Research Park (Mr. Vivek M, Mr. Mahesh S) and IIMCIP-TIC (Mr. Shekhar Pritam Chaliha), participants built projects including ESP32-powered dancing LEDs, a maze-navigating robot, IoT energy and water monitoring systems, gesture-controlled devices, and a low-power DC-DC boost converter. The workshop concluded with a starter-kit handover by IIMCIP-TIC and a vote of thanks from the Head of the EEE department. - Dr. Pushpanjalee Konwar, reinforcing ADBU’s commitment to fostering student innovation and entrepreneurship.
It is worthwhile to mention that the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta has taken a significant step towards fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in East and Northeast India by establishing the "IIMCIP Technology and Innovation Council" (IIMC-TIC). This initiative falls under the auspices of the IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP), recognized as a Technology Business Incubator by the institute.
