EEE organized symposium on “Electrical Machine Design”
On March 4th 2016, Friday, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, School of Technology, Assam Don Bosco University organized a symposium on "Electrical Machine Design" for the EEE students, in which a technical talk was delivered by Prof. P.K Bordoloi, HOD of Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering Dept., GIMT. The resource person was welcomed by Prof. Manoranjan Kalita, Director, SoT, ADBU and Prof. Shakuntala Laskar, HOD, EEE department.
The talk was started with the basics of electrical machines, its principles, classifications and its importance and the depth of the knowledge on Machine Design and the specifications of different types of machines and its application in various fields. He also explained elaborately the various working circuits in electrical machines and different types of core material, winding connections, types of cooling and insulating materials etc. used for electrical machines. He further illustrated the constructional design of rotating dc and ac machines, and lastly he talked about the different types of transformers and its features.
Electrical machines is considered as one of the core area of Electrical Engineering and electrical machine design is an important area of learning in Electrical machines. The workshop is expected to boost the knowledge and understanding of the students in regards to electrical machines.
