Technical Symposium on Electrical Engineering organised by EEE Department

As a part of its continuous effort to bridge the industry-academia gap, a Technical Symposium on Electrical Engineering was organized by the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, School of Technology, Assam Don Bosco University on 17th July 2018, which evoked an encouraging response from the participants.


Mr. Anshooman Barooah, MD, Gajanan Power Systems and Mr. Manas Jyoti Baishya, Senior Engineer, Power Grid Corporation of India were invited as Industry Professionals to deliver talks and a total of 60 students from B.Tech. 5th and 7th semesters attended the symposium. Mr. Anshooman Barooah, delivered his talk on carrier opportunities for EEE students, emphasizing on the necessary skills needed while preparing for an interview. He also mentioned major areas which students can consider like core, software and ITs, Entrepreneur or start-ups for a fruitful career prospect. Mr. Manas Jyoti Baishya presented an overview of the World’s first ±800 kV High Voltage Direct Current Transmission Substation in Biswanath Chariali, Assam. He mentioned about HVDC system and its advantages. Further, he highlighted the ±800KV HVDC Substation and its components, world’s first multi-terminal project, longest DC Transmission line and highest DC Transmission voltage etc. The session ended with an interaction of the resource persons with the participants. This type of lecture and interaction is expected to make the engineering students industry-ready when they pass out from the college.
